One of the most prolific passers in Butte High School history is now officially a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to multiple reports.
Dylan Cook, a 2016 Butte High graduate who spent the 2022 NFL season on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad, made the Steelers 53-man roster. NFL teams had to cut their rosters to 53 by this afternoon.
Cook was a huge success story at the University of Montana before heading to the NFL. He started his college career as a quarterback for a struggling MSU-Northern program. He transferred to UM, switched positions and earned a spot as the starting right tackle.
He played in 27 games for the Grizzlies, starging 23.
Cook, whose older brother Dallas was the starting quarterback on Butte High’s 2012 Class AA State championship team, was a standout in football and basketball for the Bulldogs. He passed for 3,325 yards as a junior in 2014. That ranks only behind his brother and current Montana State quarterback Tommy Mellott in Butte High’s record book.

Dylan Cook’s seven touchdown passes against Missoula Hellgate in 2014 is still a school record.
During the fist game of his senior season in 2015, however, Cook suffered a broken collarbone in the first quarter, ending his senior football season on a sour note.
Cook signed with the Steelers in March. He has been wearing No. 60 in camp. He has been playing guard and tackle.
In February, Cook made an appearance on the ButteCast.
