Butte High cross country runners Evie Smith and Levi Wiltsie are this week’s Leskovar Honda Athletes of the Week.

The honors come after the runners closed the season at the State meet Saturday in Kalispell.

Smith takes home the girls’ honor. She is an eighth grader who led the Bulldog girls in every meet she raced in this season. She placed 48th at State, finishing with a time of 21 minutes, 2 seconds.

Smith also competed for the Butte Copper Sprockets mountain bike team this summer and fall.

Wiltsie, a sophomore, takes home the boys’ award after he posted a personal record at the State meet. He finished the 5-kilometer race in 18:18 at Rebecca Farm, capping a strong season that saw him consistently break 19 minutes in races down the stretch. He beat his previous record by 12 seconds.

Classmate Camden Houchin led the Bulldogs with a school record 5K time of 16:45. He was named Athlete of the Week earlier in the season.

Leskovar Honda, home of the 20-year, 200,000-mile warranty, teamed up with the ButteCast to honor the finest athletes from the Mining City in an effort to encourage more children to get up, get out and try all kinds of sports and activities.
