Butte Central senior Mollie Drew and Butte High senior Trey Hansen are this week’s Leskovar Honda Athletes of the Week.
Drew takes home the girls’ honor after a great season on the volleyball court for the Maroons.
BC coach Becky Hancock said the setter consistently ran the Central offense all season.
“She made things happen out there for us by making the ball playable and hittable,” Hancock said. “Mollie was always a force behind the service line with tough serving that often kept us in games. She was a strong overall player who always gave it everything she had.”
Drew is also a force on the basketball court for the Maroons.
Hansen receives the boys’ honor after helping lead Butte High to a 42-29 victory over Billings Senior in the first round of the Class AA football playoffs.
The bruising runner carried the ball 29 times for 151 yards and a pair of touchdowns at a frigid Naranche Stadium. Hansen scored on a 6-yard run to open scoring. He later busted into the end zone on a 1-yard plunge.
Hansen is also a top wrestler for the Bulldogs and a key member of the Butte High and Butte Miners baseball teams.
Leskovar Honda, home of the 20-year, 200,000-mile warranty, teamed up with the ButteCast to honor the finest athletes from the Mining City in an effort to encourage more children to get up, get out and try all kinds of sports and activities.
