No, this is not an interview with comedian Jim Norton, the raunchy stand up who rose to fame on the Opie & Anthony Show. Instead, it is an interview with a Butte guy who is probably more interesting.

Jim is the first guest on the ButteCast to be interviewed while wearing the exact same Red Sox hat as the interviewer. Yep, Jim is a Red Sox fan, and we could have talked four hours about our experiences cheering for the Old Towne Team.

Of course, we talked for a while about being fans of the Sox — both before and after the breaking of the Curse of the Bambino. But we then got into more interesting subjects. Way more interesting.

Listen in as Jim talks about his tough upbringing in Butte. He talks about his father, an Irish immigrant, having good intentions but often falling short as a dad because of alcoholism. He talks about his strong-willed mother and his siblings working hard to keep the family clothed and with food on the table.

Jim also has some great stories about working with some great men and great characters as a football referee. Listen in to hear his opinion about the best athletes to ever come out of the Mining City.

Yes, Butte’s Jim Norton is more interesting than the comedian. There’s no doubt about it.
