Butte High senior track athletes Grady Winston and Aili McClafferty are this week’s Leskovar Honda Athletes of the Week.

The honors come after the two Bulldogs put up strong performances at a triangular with Billings West and Billings Senior Friday in Billings.

Winston takes home the boys’ award after jumping to victory with a personal record in the long jump. Winston posted a winning mark of 20 feet, 7 ½ inches. He beat West’s Trystin Chapel by an inch and a half.

In football, Winston was a key player for a Bulldog team that advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class AA playoffs. Winston played defensive back.

McClafferty claims the girls’ honor by winning the javelin with a mark of 105 feet, 1 inch. That beat West’s Kaelyn Claunch by one inch. The throw, which came in her first competition of 2024, was 4 feet, 8 inches shy of her personal record.

As a junior, McClafferty launched the javelin 109-9 to medal with a sixth-place showing at the Western AA Divisional meet and qualify for the Class AA State meet.

For the second year, Leskovar Honda, home of the 20-year, 200,000-mile warranty, is teaming up with the ButteCast to honor the finest student-athletes from the Mining City in an effort to encourage more children to get up, get out and try all kinds of sports and activities.
