Butte High Bulldogs Selene Morrell and Matthew Donaldson are this week’s Leskovar Honda Athletes of the Week.

Morrell, a senior, takes home the girls’ honor after having a very good day on Thursday, May 2. Early in the morning, Morrell signed an NAIA National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Montana Tech. She called signing with the Orediggers a dream come true.

Later in the day, Morrell posted a pair of personal bests in a track meet with Missoula Big Sky and Butte Central. She launched the discus 99 feet, 7 inches for a victory. She also placed fourth in the javelin with a mark of 84-6.

Donaldson takes home the boys’ honor after making some history on the baseball diamond. The junior threw the first no-hitter in the history of the Butte High baseball program Thursday as the Bulldogs completed a sweep of Butte Central at 3 Legends Stadium.

Donaldson pitched the distance in the 13-3 win that was called by the 10-run rule after six. He struck out 10 batters, walked three and surrendered three runs in the win.

On the season, Donaldson is 2-1 with a 2.63 ERA. His is also a force at the plate for the Bulldogs.

For the second year, Leskovar Honda, home of the 20-year, 200,000-mile warranty, is teaming up with the ButteCast to honor the finest student-athletes from the Mining City in an effort to encourage more children to get up, get out and try all kinds of sports and activities.
