Butte High senior Brett Polich and Butte Central freshman Kodee Badovinac are this week’s Leskovar Honda Athletes of the Week.
Both athletes were nominated by their coaches for their performance on the field and court and because of their team-first attitude.
Polich takes home the boys’ honor. The 5-foot-10, 250-pound Polich is the starting center for a Butte High offensive line that has been paving the way for the Bulldog running game and protecting quarterback Colton Shea.
“Brett is a great ambassador for Butte High,” Butte High coach Arie Grey said. “He is a hard worker and is always looking for ways to improve his craft and help his teammates.”
Polich is in his third season starting at center for the Bulldogs. He also contributes on the defensive line.
Badovinac receives the girls’ honor for her tenacious play as the libero of the Butte Central volleyball team.
“Kodee is a go getter,” BC coach Becky Hancock said. “She pushes herself to be better each day for the overall success of the team. As a freshman, Kodee has taken on the libero position with grit. She is not afraid to lay herself out there for balls, and she has that mental toughness it takes to overcome the challenges in her position. She is a coachable kid, with a great attitude.”
For the second year, Leskovar Honda, home of the 20-year, 200,000-mile warranty, is teaming up with the ButteCast to honor the finest student-athletes from the Mining City in an effort to encourage more children to get up, get out and try all kinds of sports and activities.
