Butte High seniors Sophia Gransbery and Colton Shea are this week’s Leskovar Honda Athletes of the Week.
The honors come as the Bulldog volleyball and football teams have reached the postseason.
Gransbery takes home the girls’ honor after a strong regular season by the 5-foot-8 outside hitter. That season includes 165 kills, 17 aces, 28 blocks and 83 digs. She is ranked second on the Butte High team in kills, and she led the team in kills during 10 matches in the regular season.
Gransbery and the Bulldogs will take on Kalispell Glacier in the first round of the Class AA playoffs. That match will be played at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Richardson Gym.
Shea takes home the boys’ honor after his clutch performance led the Bulldogs to a 21-17 come-from-behind playoff win at Great falls High.
The 5-10, 180-pound quarterback completed 21 of 29 passes for 246 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 51 yards in the win.
After the Bison took a 17-7 lead with 6 minutes, 33 seconds left, Shea never wavered. He hooked up with Sam Sampson for the duo’s second TD of the night before finding Hudson Luedtke for a 10-yard scoring strike with 1 minute left.
The win sends the Bulldogs to Kalispell for a Friday showdown with Glacier.
Leskovar Honda, home of the 20-year, 200,000-mile warranty, is teaming up with the ButteCast to honor the finest student-athletes from the Mining City in an effort to encourage more children to get up, get out and try all kinds of sports and activities.
