We closed out 2024 with a podcast featuring former Butte High Bulldog and Oregon Duck Cody Carriger.
So, what a better way to open 2025 than with a podcast featuring Cody’s older brother, Jaison.
Jaison Carriger was a standout athlete at Butte High School before taking an academic scholarship and walking on to play football for Butte native Mick Dennehy at Utah State. He transferred back to Montana to play football for the Grizzlies in Missoula.
Carriger’s Griz career was cut short by an injury, but not before he was part of a team that advanced to the NCAA I-AA national championship game.
But now, Jaison he might forever be known as the Grinch.
For the past several years, Carriger and his family have hosted “Grinch Night.” In addition to brightening the holiday season for the children and families of Butte, “Grinch Night” has helped raise money for several different charities. This year, money from a hot-chocolate stand went to the Delaney Doherty Memorial Scholarship Foundation.
Carriger first put on his Grinch mask to mess with his neighbor and friend. Then he did it as a way to entertain people driving by to look at Christmas lights during COVID. Now, “Grinch Night” has completely taken off, and changed Jaison Carriger’s identity forever.
This past “Grinch Night,” people were lined up for as far as the eye could see to have a photo taken with the Grinch.
Listen in to this podcast as Jaison talks about all the great athletes and coaches he played with or against in his career. Listen as he talks about being recruited by Coach Dennehy. Listen as he talks about being the Grinch.
Today’s podcast is presented by Leskovar Honda, home of the 20-year, 200,000-mile warranty.
