COLLALBO, Italy — Will Silk captured a bronze medal in the Mass Start at the Junior World Speed Skating Championships Sunday.
The 2024 Butte High graduate finished the 10-lap race in 5, minutes 34.64 seconds, finishing 3 seconds behind Metoděj JÍLEK of the Czech Republic.
Silk competed in the Allround competition on Friday and Saturday, finishing 8th. Germany’s Finn Sonnekalb won the Allround. Silk’s best individual race places, other than the Mass Start, were 11th in both the 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters.
Silk also won a bronze medal in the 3,000 meters at a Junior World Cup race last weekend at the same rink. He finished 16th in the Allround at the last year’s Junior World Championships in Hachinone, Japan.
