BOZEMAN — Hudson Luedtke and Cadence Graham each had a monster day to help the Butte High Bulldogs sweep a boys-girls doubleheader with Bozeman Saturday.

Graham, a junior, scored 38 points to lead the Bulldog girls to a 51-39 win before Luedtke, a senior, broke the school record with 43 points as the Butte boys thumped the Hawks 59-34.

The Bulldogs will play their home openers Tuesday, when they welcome Dillon for a non-conference doubleheader at the Butte Civic Center.

Luedtke had a record-breaking day, but another huge key in the game was the Butte High defense.

The Bulldogs held the Hawks to just five points in the first quarter and took a 28-14 lead into halftime. Luedtke, who broke Butte High’s career-scoring record last season, scored 11 points in the first quarter, eight in the second, nine in the third and 15 in the fourth.

His 43 points broke the record of 40, which was set by Todd Hildreth in overtime game in Anaconda on Dec. 23, 2004. Only Butte Central graduate Dougie Peoples has scored more points in a high school game. Peoples tossed in 44 points in a game in 2023.

Luedtke also chased Butte High’s record with eight made 3-pointers. Torre Temple set the mark with nine threes in a game last season.

Brady Hansen scored six points in the win, and Cayde Stajcar and Rhett Arntson each tossed in five. Mitch (or Mike) Verlanic, Josh Liston, James Pearston, Kendel Noctor, and Ryan Hansen also contributed in the victory.

GIRLS
Butte High 51, Bozeman 39

Amazingly, Graham did not have a record-breaking day as she led the Bulldogs to victory in the girls’ game.

Her 38 points fell one point shy of Lexie Nelson’s school record. Nelson scored 39 points against Billings Skyview in 2010. Graham’s six 3-pointers were three short of her school record of nine.

The 38 points, though, was a career-high Graham. She scored seven in the first quarter, 14 in the second, three in the third and 14 in the fourth.

The Bulldogs led 26-14 at the half, thanks to a 17-3 run in the second quarter. Saege Grey scored three points, while Allie Becker, Ellison Graham, Autumn Clary, Franki Salusso and Emma Johnson each tossed in two.

Stella Callaghan, Ellie Yates, Reese Johnson, Avery Barsness and Kendallyn Schad also contributed for the Bulldogs.
