Basketball players Cadence Graham and Jaxon Hiatt are this week’s Leskovar Honda Athletes of the Week.

The honors come after the Butte High Bulldogs and Butte Central Maroons played in State basketball tournaments. Both teams played until Saturday morning of those tournaments.

Graham, a 5-foot-7 junior guard, takes home the girls honor after scoring 71 points in Butte High’s three games at the Class AA State tournament in Billings. That includes a 32-point performance in Butte High’s win over Helena High on Friday.

She buried five 3-poitners in that game, most of which were from well beyond the 3-point line.

In seven career State tournament games, Graham has scored 155 points, an average of 22.1 points per game. She will head into her senior season with 1,351 career points. That is 345 points shy of Lexie Nelson’s record for most points scored by a high school player in Butte.

In 21 games this season, Graham scored 445 points for an average of 21.2 points per game.

Hiatt, a 6-foot sophomore guard/forward, takes home the boys honor for his role in leading the Maroons to the Class A State tournament in Great Falls. Hiatt is a weapon for the Maroons inside and out.

He averaged 9.9 points per game through BC’s 25 games. He also played much bigger than his roster size, leading the team with 5.8 rebounds per game.

Hiatt, who first earned a starting role during his freshman season, scored 13 points in Central’s loss to Frenchtown Saturday morning. He has also proven to be a strong defender for the Maroons.

For the fourth year, Leskovar Honda, home of the non-commission sales staff that always has your back, is teaming up with the ButteCast to honor the finest student-athletes from the Mining City to encourage more children to get up, get out and try all kinds of sports and activities.
