The Butte Mineral and Gem Show will be held May 20-21 at the Butte Civic Center.
Displays representing all aspects of rock hounding will be there to enjoy. Whether it is faceting, making jewelry, fossil collecting, polishing cabochons or learning where to go to find minerals, games and fossils, the show will have it all.
A special feature of the show this year will be a fantastic display of Montana Agate by Tom Harmon of Savage. He has loaned his display to Montana Tech, where it will be on display after the show. Harmon’s Agate will also be a dealer at the show. He will be available to autograph his four books on Montana Agates.
The show features 38 member displays, a silent auction and demonstrations by Master Knapper Ed Guillen. There will be 18 retail dealers of fine jewelry, minerals, fossils and gems. The kids’ corner will also return.
Also available will be a garnet table (with some sapphires), coconut geode cracking and grab bags. Kids will be able to make an egg carton collection by choosing 12 specimens to fill a carton.
The silent auction will include fine mineral specimens, jewelry and game materials.
The show will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $3. Children under 12 are free.
