Year No. 2 of the ButteCast begins with Dr. John Michelotti.

Before he was the team doctor at Carroll College — a position he’s held for nearly a quarter of a century — Dr. Michelotti was a McKinley Viking.

He was also a standout student and athlete at Butte High School. Dr. Michelotti was a valedictorian of Butte High’s Class of 1986. He also earned the Harry “Swede” Dahlberg Award as the outstanding boy senior athlete that year.

Dr. Michelotti played quarterback and a little receiver for the Bulldogs. Then he went on to start four years at Carroll College while working his way to medical school at the University of Washington.

A renowned orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Michelotti was part of the team that operated on the knee of Denver Broncos star running back Terrell Davis before he returned to Montana.

Listen in to this podcast as Dr. Michelotti talks about his playing days at Butte High. Listen to how his third-grade teacher told him he should be a sports doctor, and he listened.

Listen in as he talks about giving Bart Black his famous mohawk haircut in 1986, and how that went on to inspire a winning tradition at Helena Capital.
