Butte High swimmers Olivia Thurmond and Nathan Stone are this week’s Leskovar Honda Athletes of the Week.

The honors come after the Bulldogs impressed at the season-opening December Splash Friday at the Butte Family YMCA. Both swimmers are entering their senior seasons. The two are looking to get back to the State meet, where they impressed last February.

Thurmond takes home the girls’ honor. She placed third in the 100-yard freestyle in the first meet of the season. She also placed fourth in the 200 freestyle. Thurmond competed in the 50 and 500 freestyle last year at State.

Stone takes home the boys’ honor. Don’t let the last name fool you, the boy can swim. He placed fifth in both the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly for the Bulldogs. At State, he competed in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.

Thurmond, Stone and the Bulldogs will compete at the Missoula City Meet on Saturday.

For the third year, Leskovar Honda, home of the non-commission sales staff that always has your back, is teaming up with the ButteCast to honor the finest student-athletes from the Mining City to encourage more children to get up, get out and try all kinds of sports and activities.
