The Butte Sports Hall of Fame class of 2026 induction will be held July 24-25 at the Butte Civic Center.

Teams entering the Hall this year are the 1972 Mile High All-Star baseball team, the 1976 Northwest All-Star softball team, the 1995 Butte High Wrestling team, the 2000 Butte Central softball team, and the 2009 Butte High girls’ track teams.
All teams won state championships.

Any players or coaches from the teams who attend the banquet will be awarded a personalized plaques to commemorate the induction. However, all those wishing to receive a plaque must RSVP ahead of time.

So far, the Hall of Fame has only heard from a small number of players from the 1972 Mile High All-Star team and the 2009 Butte High girls’ track team.

Players and coaches who do not attend can purchase a plaque for $75, plus shipping.

The Green Jacket Ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 24 at the Civic Center. The event, which is free to the public, begins with a 6 p.m. social hour.

The Induction Banquet begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 25. That event also begins with a 6 p.m. social hour. Cost is $47 before July 12. Then the cost goes up $5. Tickets can be purchased at the Butte Civic Center box office or at butteciviccenter.com.

Team members will be recognized each night.

Individuals called to 20th class of the Butte Sports Hall of Fame are Brian Bolton, Bernie Brophy, Shirley Chesterfield-Stanton, Susie Hogart-Harrington, John Kovacich, Scott Paffhausen, Kevin Parvinen, Jane Pascoe, Don Peoples Jr., Greg Salo, Butch Starin and Chunky Thatcher.

A golf scramble will also be held at 1 p.m. on Friday on the Par 3 course at the Highland View Golf Course.

Leskovar Honda will once again sponsor a hole-in-one contest during the Hall of Fame scramble. One hole will be designated as the prize hole. That hole has not yet been selected.

Comedians from Uptown Comedy will be heckling golfers on another hole, and golfers will have a chance to win tickets to a future comedy show in Butte.

The tournament, which will be $10 per person plus green fees for non-members, is open to the public. The tournament has tee times blocked off from 1 to 3 p.m. Players can show up with a team of four or five or come as an individual and join a team.
