Butte’s Kate DeShaw places second

GREGSON — Butte High’s Teagan Yelenich and Butte Central’s Beau McGree tied for medalist honors Tuesday at the Butte High Invitational golf tournament at Fairmont Hot Springs.

Yelenich shot a 37 on each nine to finish at 2 over par. McGree, who won the Butte Central Invitational Monday at the Highland View Golf Course, followed a 38 with a 36. He birdied the 18th hole to force the tie.

No sudden-death playoff was played. Yelenich was said to have won a scorecard playoff, but the ButteCast does not acknowledge such a thing.

Great Falls Russell teammates Jackson Hageman and Jack Pinski tied for third at 75, one shot better than teammate Grant Golik.

Butte High’s Jack Muhlesten placed sixth at 77, Bulldog Lane Lisac took seventh at 78 and Butte High’s Mile Choquette and Bulldog junior varsity player Drew Kachmarik tied for eighth place at 80.

Bulldog Beckham Kinsey tied for 15th at 84.

Konnor Kachmarik added a 95 for the Maroons. Gannon Button came in at 112, and Cohen Stajcar shot a 116.

Also playing for the Bulldog JV were Braden Donnelly, who shot an 88, Teague Sullivan, who hit 89, Kason Liston, who carded a 104, and Rody Johnson, who hit 108.

CMR won the boys title at 308, topping the Bulldogs by one shot. Butte High’s JV team finished a distant third at 361.

On the girls’ side, CMR’s Brooklyn Hageman fired a 93 to claim medalist honors. She beat Butte High senior Kate DeShaw by one shot.

CMR’s Alexia Davis took third at 95, and Great Falls High golfer Madi Timmons finished fourth at 96. BC freshman Mya McGree placed fifth at 100, and Butte High junior Sage Leber placed sixth at 106.

Also for Butte High, Lilly Sandoval shot a 133, Lilly Carden hit 144, and Julia DeShaw shot 145.

CMR won the girls’ team title at 465. Butte High took second at 477, and Great Falls High placed third at 491.

The Bulldogs are back in action next Monday and Tuesday when they travel to the Electric City for the Great Falls Invitational. The Maroons will play a tournament Thursday in Ronan before heading to Livingston for a tournament on Friday.
