Butte High golfers Kate DeShaw and Lane Lisac are this week’s Leskovar Honda Athletes of the Week.
The honors come after they led the Bulldogs at the Western AA Divisional golf tournament at the Butte Country Club.
DeShaw, a senior, takes home the girls’ honor for her sixth-place showing at the tournament. She followed an opening-round 89 with a 98 to easily qualify for the Class AA State tournament. The five-year Bulldog contributor will wrap up her standout Bulldog golf career Thursday and Friday at the Meadow Lark Country Club in Great Falls.
This will be DeShaw’s third trip to State. Last year, she placed 18th, missing out on All-State honors by just two strokes.
Lisac, a freshman who will be making his second State tournament appearance, takes home the boys’ award. That comes after he tied for second at the Western AA Divisional. He fired a 2-over-par 72 to open the tournament. The next day he carded a 75 to tie him with Missoula Sentinel’s Cole Jenkins.
Lisac’s divisional performance came a few days after he tied teammate Teagan Yelenich for 10th place at the Butte High Invitational at Fairmont Hot Springs.
