Coach Adam Hiatt is the man who built Montana Tech’s back-to-back Frontier Conference men’s basketball team.

Born in Sand Point, Idaho and raised in Sand Point and Bonners Ferry, Hiatt is now officially a Butte guy. You win the Frontier Conference title, and we will claim you. You beat Carroll College, and you are one of ours forever.

Hiatt played hoops for Ricks College and Westminster College. He scored 2,270 points in his college career. He was a tough player who, obviously, could score. He played just two years at Westminster and still became the school’s all-time leading scorer.

After a successful stint at his alma matter, Hiatt took over the Oredigger program in March of 2016. Seven years later, and the Orediggers are entrenched on the top of the Frontier Conference.

Listen in to hear about Hiatt’s playing days and his support from his large family. Listen to hear about how he turned the Orediggers into champions. Listen to see how he continued to coach — and what he was feeling inside — when Frontier Conference MVP and First-Team All-American Caleb Bellach suffered a knee injury a minute into the Orediggers’ first-round game of the NAIA National Tournament.

Listen in to see hear Hiatt’s optimism about the 2023-24 Orediggers.
