LIVINGSTON — Beau McGree’s hot start to the high school golf season continued in a big way Monday.

The Butte Central junior matched par for a 72 at the Livingston Golf and Country Club to claim medalist honors of the Park Invitational. The victory was McGree’s third of the season. He is 5 for 5 in placing in the top 10 at tournaments this season.

McGree followed a 1-over-par 37 on the front nine with a 1-under 35 on the back for the win on the nine-hole course. He tied with Livingston’s Miles Young, who followed a 35 with a 37. McGree was awarded first place based on a scorecard playoff.

Livingston’s Vann Wagman recovered from a 40 for a 33 on the back side for a 73 and third place. East Helena’s Peyton Meyer placed fourth at 75, and fellow Vigilante Chris Schaefer took fifth at 78.

Livingston won the boys’ team title at 306. East Helena placed second at 323, and the Maroons took third at 397. The tournament also included the Hardin boys, who shot 458.

Connor Kachmarik carded a 91 for Butte Central. Cohen Stajcar added a 99, and Ganon Button hit 117.

Butte Central freshman Mya McGree, BC’s lone girl player, did not play in the tournament, but she will rejoin the Maroons when they play in a tournament in Dillon on Wednesday.

Beau McGree won the season-opening Butte Central Invitational at the Highland View Golf Course before tying Butte High’s Teagan Yelenich for the title at Butte High’s tournament the next day at Fairmont Hot Springs.

He also tied for ninth place at the Frenchtown Invitational, and he took 10th at the Ronan Invitational.
