Central’s Mya McGree takes fourth

DILLON — Beau McGree posted his second golf victory of the week Wednesday.

This time, the Butte Central junior won the Beaverhead Invitational at the Beaverhead Golf Course. He carded a 4-over-par 76, shooting a 38 on each nine, to claim the victory by two shots over second-place Nate Botteron of East Helena.

Easth Helena’s Peyton Meyer took third at 79, while Zane Garrison of Dillon placed fourth at 80 and Chris Schaefer of East Helena placed fifth at 81.

East Helena won the boys’ team title at 321 in a tournament that finished in the wind and rain. Dillon took second at 338, followed by Hamilton at 343, Butte High’s junior varsity and Stevensville at 364 and Butte Central at 368.

Teague Sullivan led the Butte High JV team with an 84. Drew Kachmarik shot an 87, while Braden Donnely carded a 93, and Kason Liston hit 100.

Connor Kachmarik added an 86 for the Maroons, who got a 98 from Cohen Stajcar and a 108 from Ganon Button.

McGree is off to an incredible start to the 2026 season. He also won the Butte Central Invitational and tied for titles at the Butte High Invitational and the Park High Invitational. The Park tournament was Monday in Livingston.

McGree’s season includes top-10 performances at tournaments in Frenchtown and Ronan. Those tournaments included most of the teams from the Western A.

On the girls’ side, Butte Central freshman Mya McGree was back with another top-five performance. She fired a 97 to place fourth.

Cameron Burnett of Hamilton won the tournament with a 77. Dillon’s Skylar LaPierre took second at 81, and Evelynn Driskell of Stevensville placed third at 97. Jocelyn Lamberrt of Stevensville placed fifth at 98.

Hamilton’s girls won with a score of 407. Dillon was second at 425, and Stevensville placed third at 431.
