Butte Central and Butte High’s football teams picked up road conference victories Friday night.
The Maroons went to Stevensville and rolled to a 55-7 victory over the Yellowjackets in a Southwestern A contest.
Central put the game away early, jumping out to a 42-0 halftime lead as BC improved to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in league play. Stevi fell to 2-3 and 0-2.
Butte High, meanwhile, took command early and held on for a 29-27 win over Helena High at Vigilante Stadium. The win lifts Butte High to 2-4 overall and 1-3 in Western AA action.
The Bengals fell to 3-3 and 2-2.
Raeder Grey started off Butte High’s scoring with a 6-yard run. Shortly after the Bulldogs forced and recovered a Helena fumble, Grey hit Miner Lee for an 11-yard strike.
Lee added touchdown runs of 12 and 21 yards in the win. He had another touchdown scamper called back by a penalty just before Tegan Duffy booted a 26-yard field goal.
That kick extended Butte’s lead to 29-14, and the Bulldogs held off a Helena rally.
Butte High will play host to Flathead next Friday. The Bulldogs will celebrate Senior Night, even though they take on Missoula Hellgate Oct. 15 at Naranche Stadium.
The Maroons will also be home the next two weeks, starting next Friday when Frenchtown comes to town. BC will host Hamilton on Senior Night Oct. 16.
