KALISPELL — Butte High’s volleyball season came to an end Wednesday night.
It did not, however, end without a Bulldog fight.
After falling 25-19, 25-17 in the first two sets, Butte High battled back to force a tiebreaker with wins of 25-14 and 30-28.
Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, the momentum from that thrilling victory in the fourth set did not carry over into the fifth. Glacier jumped out to leads of 6-0 and 14-2 in the tiebreaker before ending the match with a 15-6 victory.
The win sends the Wolfpack to next week’s Class AA State tournament in Bozeman. Butte High’s season comes to an end with an 8-12 record. The loss was the third in five sets to the Wolfpack this season.
The heartbreaking loss closes the prep volleyball careers for Butte High seniors Avery Barsness, Allie Becker, Cadence Graham, Ellie Yates and Brittyn Klima.
Butte High was looking for its first trip to state since 2021.
