BOZEMAN — Butte High senior Bridger Luebke placed ninth overall at Run BXC Invitational cross country meet Friday at Gallatin County Regional Park. (Results)

He finished the 5-kilometer course in 18 minutes, 1 second to crack the top 10 in the Belgrade-hosted tournament that saw 172 boys compete in the varsity/junior varsity race.

Quindell Yellowtail of Billings Senior ran to first place, crossing in 17:11. Teammate Oliver Brown placed second at 17:15, Whitehall’s Ember Hunt took third at 17:26, and Cooper Laslovich of Helena Capital finished fourth at 17:31.

Butte High junior Isaac Zell placed 21st in 18:37, and sophomore teammate Jason Real placed 37th in 19:17.

In all, 12 Butte High boys competed in the race. Sophomore Kai Schuler (20:05) and senior Colton Yoakum (20:12) broke 21 minutes, while junior Jack Taylor crossed in 21:21.

Also running for the Bulldogs were sophomore Lyric Haston (22:11), junior Jere Moen (25:31), junior Zachary McLarnon (25:43), junior Emmett Hedval (28:23), junior Nico Schuler (30:31) and senior Kyle Van Elsberg (30:56).

Great Falls Russell won the team title with 55 points. Billings Senior took second, and Helena Capital placed third at 85. Butte High placed sixth out of 12 teams with scores at 160.

Kallie Clayton of Billings Skyview won the girls’ race in 19:33. Jane Allen of Billings West took second in 19:56, and Stella Damyanovich of CMR finished third at 20:01

Butte High junior Penelope Luebke ran to 35th place in a race that saw 116 girls finish. She finished in 24:03. Butte junior Wakely Burelson placed 45th at 24:58.

Eight Bulldogs ran the race. Also competing were senior Valerie Trabert (30:14), junior Cambri O’Neill (31:40), junior Cambria Zahn, junior Carlynn Wiltsie (34:45), junior Hayden Hitunen (36:26) and junior Lainee Walsh-Hill (36:30).

Cody, Wyoming won the team title with 41 points. Billings West took second at 65, and CMR finished third at 90. Butte High placed 10th at 258.

The Bulldog runners will head back to Bozeman Sept. 12 for a race at Bridger Creek Golf Course.
